GCA State of the Academy Address

If you missed this year’s State of the Academy address, here are some highlights from the evening. After enjoying a time of food and fellowship, parents saw how their investment in Christian education was making an impact here in the Tidewater area as well as around the world. Through giving of their time and talents, flower beds were mulched, nursing homes were painted, food was collected and distributed, and students participated in countless other opportunities to put their faith in action. Academically, there has been an increase in the number of students taking AP courses, an accelerated track in mathematics in the Lower and Middle School has been adopted, and planning continues to increase the academic rigor of the academy through training and integration of technology in the classroom.

While these achievements are noteworthy, Mr. White encouraged those present to prayerfully make an investment into the technological needs of the school. By replacing our hardware and increasing our wireless capabilities, our classrooms will essentially become learning laboratories. Students will be able to research and submit their findings in real time. Teachers will be able to take learning outside of the text and have their students interact in such a way that makes the learning experience all the more meaningful. These examples are just a snapshot of the opportunities available to GCA as we expand our technological infrastructure.
