The American Dream - Lower School Musical

The Lower School Musical was held Thursday evening, February 9th. The 4th grade music classes, Orff ensemble groups and 5th grade choir performed The American Dream: A Musical Celebration of America's Early Heritage. The students, under the direction of Mrs. Bates, did an extraordinary job taking us back in time on a journey through the foundation of our great country. The musical provided a wonderful reminder of the important people, events and documents that helped shape the United States of America. Most importantly, the musical encouraged us to reflect on God's blessings on America and to be thankful that we have the right to pray and worship Him as we please.

We're Going Green in the New Year!
To help conserve paper and cut down on copy costs, newsletters will be available online only beginning on Monday, January 23, 2012. This means that a newsletter will no longer come home in your child’s weekly folder. Each Monday you will be able to read the weekly newsletter on the teacher’s webpage on the GCA website. To access teacher webpages hover over the “Academics” tab at the top of the webpage, move the cursor down to “Lower School,” and select “Teacher Pages” from the options listed. From there you will be able to select the teacher’s name and go to her webpage where newsletters can be found at the bottom of the page. Even though they are no longer coming home in paper form, please remember how important it is to read your child’s newsletter each week.
What the Kids are Saying
As we wrapped up the first week of school, I took the opportunity to ask some of the students what they enjoyed about the week and what they are looking forward to in this new school year. Here's what they had to say:
Farm Fresh Receipts Program

GCA is collecting Farm Fresh receipts during the 2011-2012 school year! Receipts must be dated September 8, 2011 through May 31, 2012. On the receipts donated to GCA, every dollar converts to points that the school can use to purchase educational media equipment for your students. All Farm Fresh receipts should be turned in to the LIBRARY.
