Since 1983, Greenbrier Christian Academy has served the Hampton Roads area as an independent Christian school, providing a Christ-centered, biblically based education for students in preschool and K5-12th grade. GCA is a non-denominational ministry offering a challenging academic program while at the same time endeavoring to foster spiritual, physical, and emotional growth in our students.
OUR MISSION
With the Word of God as our foundation, Greenbrier Christian Academy exists in support of the local church to partner with parents to provide a Christ-centered education that:
- Gives the student the opportunity to know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord (Romans 10:9-10)
- Challenges them to excel academically (Proverbs 1:7)
- Provides programs that disciple them to increase in wisdom and stature and in favor with God and man (Luke 2:52)
STATEMENT OF FAITH
Basis: The basis of Greenbrier Christian Academy shall be the Word of God as interpreted by the following statement of faith:
1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible authoritative word of God.
II Timothy 3:16,17 - All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work. (II Peter 1: 19-21)
2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
Isaiah 45:5 - I am the LORD, and there is no other, there is no God besides Me. (Mathew 28:19, Acts 5:3,4; Colossians 2:9)
3. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father and His personal return to power and glory.
John 1:1,14 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we behold His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. (Acts 1:11; Philippians 2:6-11)
4. We believe that salvation of lost and sinful men, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
John 14:16,17 - And I will pray to the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever; the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; buy you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. (John 6:8,13)
5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enable to live a godly life.
Ephesians 2:8,9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not or works, lest anyone should boast. (Romans 3:21-28, Titus 3:5-7, Acts 16:31)
6. We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; that they are saved unto the resurrection of life; and they that are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
John 5:28,29 - Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.
7. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 10:24,25 - And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together; as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. (Ephesians 5:23-32; I Corinthians 12:12-27)
